Course Description
The course is designed for anyone who selects, hires, or operates MEWPs as part of their daily work in Ireland. It includes scissor lifts, boom lifts, and cherry pickers. MEWP certification is a site requirement for many Irish employers and may be a condition of employment in construction, facilities management, and industrial maintenance. Learn:
- MEWP Legislation - Irish legal requirements under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act and Work at Height Regulations for MEWP operators and employers
- Types and Classifications of MEWPs - Scissor lifts, boom lifts, vertical platforms, identifying the correct platform for each task
- Pre-Use Inspection - Daily checks, defect reporting, and operator responsibilities before operating any mobile elevated work platform
- Safe Operation and Emergency Procedures - Correct operating techniques, hazard recognition, and what to do in the event of a malfunction or emergency at height
